Despite its small size, arts & culture in Brisbane has become one of the City’s distinguishing marks, thanks in large part to the support from the City Council to co-sponsor many of the special events and programs put on by our artist community. The City is proud to also co-sponsor Brisbane Dance Workshop, Live at Mission Blue, and the SF Shakespeare Event, hosted by the Brisbane Women’s Club each Fall. And of course, if you prefer the outdoors and live music, then look no further than the annual Concerts in the Park and the Day in the Park/Derby Races, which take place in the late summer months and on the first Saturday in October, respectively.
As a tight-knit community of about 3,500 people, Brisbane is a great place to raise children. The community is committed to excellence in education for children of all ages. The Brisbane School District governs three schools: two elementary schools and one middle school. Brisbane Elementary and Lipman Middle School are located in Brisbane; Panorama Elementary is in Daly City. At the high school level, Brisbane School District students are eligible to attend schools in the Jefferson Union High School District. Residents have expressed interest in establishing a high school within the City, and planning for the Baylands has included discussions about a possible high school.
